Pakistan joined the Madrid Protocol on 24th February, 2021 and ratified it on 24th May, 2021. The Trade Marks office has recently commenced examination of international trademark applications filed under the Protocol designating Pakistan. Also applications filed under the Protocol which have been examined and accepted by the Registrar of Trade Marks were published for the first time in the Trade Marks Journal of April 2022 and since then applications filed under the Protocol are being published in the monthly issues of the Journal regularly for opposition purposes.
